About Us

History

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Ilorin was established in the year 2009/10. The Faculty is made up of six Departments of which the Department of Pharmaceutics and Industrial Pharmacy stand as a strong pillar for the training program. The department offers world-class training and engages in translational and cutting-edge research.

The Department staff consists of professors, associate professors, and other lecturers in training who are responsible for teaching, research, and guiding students in their pursuit of knowledge. Others include administrative staff, and laboratory technologists who ensure the smooth functioning of the department and its facilities.

The past and present Head of Department include: Prof. Isaac .O Aremu (Pioneer, 2012 – 2016), Dr. Abiodun O. Shittu (2026 – 2021), Dr. Areola T Kola-Mustapha (2021 – 2023), and Dr. Abiodun. O Shittu (2023 – present).

The Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences is dedicated to academic excellence and professional development in order to produce graduates who are well-equipped to tackle challenges in every area of Pharmacy practice.
